Where Have You Been? The Story of Your Life

Recently I met an author, Kucki Low, who told me “You have a story to tell!” I protested with the words, “I haven’t done anything special. I haven’t climbed Mt. Everest or paddled a canoe down the Fraser River or any notable accomplishment!”.  She insisted, “Only you have lived your life; only you know your story and your children’s children deserve to know you.”

How do you begin to tell the story of a very ordinary life that change with the seasons filled with daily work and play? My life is not about “Once upon a time” type fairy story where everything is all lined up in perfect order. It is all chopped up into little pieces all over the place.

During my thinking time over my morning coffee a light bulb turned on and I wondered what would happen if I used Pinterest and started my life story by using pictures that relate to where I have been from day one to now! I wondered what sort of story would emerge. Most of the pictures are from various sources online that are strictly used as reminders for me. Some of the pictures belong to me. With every new picture I add I am learning that maybe I am not such a boring person after all. I am actually looking forward to writing the chapter about “Places I have been” and using Pinterest for organizing more chapters such as “Plant a Memory Garden” that will include plants I grew up with.
